Katherine Abbott pens cinematic folk song “Lullaby For Lucas”

Katherine Abbott has travelled the world and then some, seeking experiences and adventure to fuel her music. From India, New Zealand and Australia, Abbott has jumped at any opportunity to soak in a diversity of cultures away from her small UK hometown and her latest single “Lullaby for Lucas” is a taste of what she has learnt.

Whilst hiking the Camino de Santiago in Spain, Abbott met a man named Lucas who many years ago used to be an opera singer. His tumultuous journey ended up leading to a nomadic lifestyle and he was essentially stripped of everything he ever knew. Abbott wants “Lullaby for Lucas” to act as a reminder to be mindful of others and to never judge a book by it’s cover, as you don’t know what challenges they have faced. The songwriter shares, “Lucas was an opera singer in Vienna but had lost his voice and had taken to living a nomadic existence. We had a jam in a bar one night and he tried to sing but his voice just came out as this croak which brought him to tears.”

Abbott takes listeners along on her travels, with “Lullaby for Lucas” magically transporting us to a place under the warmth of the Spanish rays. Her compelling songwriting has the ability to make you feel as if you were there with Abbott and Lucas, singing in a bar and witnessing first hand the heartbreaking moment of the effects of life’s ups and downs.

The folk/pop artist continues composing her emotive and sentimental storytelling songs, with more music dropping in the near future. Come along on an exploration with Katherine Abbott and let her music take you to a place you’ve never been before.
