NEW TRACK: ShitKid – ‘Sugar Town’

The marvellously named ShitKid is the project of 24-year-old Åsa Söderqvist, and her new tune ‘Sugar Town’ is being hailed as the perfect “antitheses to glossy Nordic pop”.

ShitKid released her self-titled debut EP in 2016, impressing fans and the industry with her catchy lo-fi beats and angsty vocals. She’s due to release her second EP (simply named EP 2) on the 3rd of March, and single ‘Sugar Town’ will feature on the release. Originally from the north of Sweden, Åsa moved to Gothenburg after high school, starting a feminist punk band and acting amongst other things, before turning inward and recording what would become her debut EP on a broken computer at home, while learning to use GarageBand.

Åsa writes, records, produces, and performs all of her own music, and she’ll be bringing her ShitKid show back to the UK when she plays The Great Escape Festival in May this year. A self-deprecating name that sits in direct contrast to a confident, exciting new attitude; ShitKid is the DIY bedroom project we all wish we were brave, and talented enough to explore.
