Music licensing organisation, PPL, is returning to one of Britain’s most influential festivals for new music, The Great Escape (18th – 20th May).
The Soho-based organisation will have a presence at the festival on Thursday 18th May and Friday 19th May and PPL staff will be present throughout the weekend.
PPL’s Member Services team will be hosting drop-in sessions for performers and rightsholders at the Brighton Dome (2pm – 5pm) on Thursday 18th, and Head of International, Amanda Carmichael, will be taking part in the CMU Insights panel on Friday 19th (11am) at Dukes 2 @ Komedia focusing on the flow of international royalties.
On Friday 19th May (12 – 2pm) PPL will then co-host a panel event at The Old Courtroom with PRS for Music and PRS Foundation where acclaimed, free-spirited songstress Marika Hackman will be discussing her evolution as an artist with close members of her team including Transgressive Records co-founder Tim Dellow and long-term producer Charlie Andrew, also known for his work with Alt-J. The discussion will be chaired by BBC 6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft. In November 2016, PPL announced a new partnership with PRS Foundation in which £200,000 will be pledged each year to support new music and artist development.

In conversation with Marika Hackman, her long-term producer Charlie Andrew (Alt-J, Money), Tim Dellow from Transgressive (management and publisher) and her radio plugger Claire Collins from Scream Promotions. It will cover how Marika has evolved and grown artistically, and the challenges faced when taking risks creatively. Chaired by BBC 6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft.
