LISTEN: Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Joel Goin shares two solo tracks

Brian Jonestown Massacre member Joel Gion has released details about his forthcoming solo album – sharing a new video and song in the process.

The LP ‘Apple Bonkers’ will be released on August 18 and follows on from the 60s inspiration BJM mastered.  Joel’s record collection includes a wide range of genres such as, shoe-gaze, post-punk, psychedelia, alt-country and mod/beat music and it’s all there in this 10 track album…

‘Apple Bonkers’ shows that Joel isn’t just the legendary ‘tambourine man’ or the  side-burned, hep-talking, sunglass-wearing star that he may at first appear to be.

Joel said: “With all the BJM members now living  so spread out across the world, I found myself increasingly missing the album making process. This feeling of disconnect is what kick started me into exploring my own song writing process and turned out to be a hugely important piece of self discovery. No more time for my beloved laziness. So I made my own music with a with bunch of friends in the studio coming and going and having a great time creating. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by this album.

To accompany Joel on this solo venture he has been aided by bandmates from BJM, Daniel Allaire and Matt Hollywood, as well as a few blasts from the past including, Jeffrey Davies and Miranda Lee Richards.
