Quills; a British/Sri Lankan instrumental duo, embracing rhythm and funk infused with soul. From Manchester and London, the band consists of Marli Wren (bass guitar, percussion) and Sacha Spence (guitar). The Neo-Soul band are influenced by funk, hip-hop, jazz, classical and soul, blending the genres whilst collaborating with singers from across the world to create upbeat and feel good songs.
Their new single All I’m Asking For mixes sublime Cocteau Twins haunting addictive melodies, with upbeat guitar references of the likes of Everything But The Girl with some exquisite luscious harmonies by Siamaki echoing Beth Gibbons gorgeous vocals. The single appears to have taken a number of years to come to fruition, probably with the mix of lockdown and creative juices flowing with multiple ideas, the duo have certainly chosen a prime cut to unleash on the world for their first release.
If All I’m Asking For is a sign of things to come the future will certainly be bright for this promising duo.
