NEW MUSIC: Think Like A Key Music Label

Think Like A Key Music stands as a beacon in the vast sea of the music industry, championing the often overlooked gems of musical artistry. As an independent record label, our mission is not just to produce releases, but to curate timeless, inspiring, and uplifting soundscapes that echo in the hearts of listeners in an ever-changing world. With a rich tapestry of experience and talent, we offer a fresh, yet nostalgic perspective, ensuring that every release leaves an indelible mark on the soul.

Here we showcase 3 fabulous releases by the label, first one by 23rd Turnoff, followed by two releases by Second Hand.

The first full-length vinyl release of the complete recordings from the British psychedelic pop group the 23rd  Turnoff. This band, born from the ashes of Liverpool Merseybeat band the Kirkbys, features cult singer-songwriter Jimmy Campbell who composed all the songs. Due to only having one magnificent, albeit commercially  unsuccessful single to their credit, they were doomed to obscurity – until much later, with discovery made possible by these rescued acetate recordings. Michael Angelo: The Complete 1967 Recordings offers the original thirteen tracks in gloriously restored form, as well as a couple new finds including an entirely different take of  “Another Vincent Van Gogh.” Remastered by Prof. Stoned.

This limited pressing includes a printed insert (LP) 12-page book (CD) and updated liner notes. CD coming out November 10th 2023

Re-released on Sept 1stSecond Hand’s groundbreaking debut album Reality from 1968 is a captivating journey into experimental psychedelia that  defies categorization. A true hidden gem of the era, revered by Pete Townsend of The Who, Reality continues to break free from the monotony, offering an authentic and  highly unique musical experience even well over 50 years after its  initial release. The album is lyrically biographical and thematically  unified, weaving an intricate and compelling sonic narrative. It pushes  the boundaries with its ‘kitchen sink’ production, employing ambitious  techniques of the era such as backward tapes and treated vocals and   instruments. The 2023 edition of this underappreciated gem boasts a  fantastic upgrade in sound quality, thanks to the skillful remastering  by Prof. Stoned as well as an informative 12-page booklet and restored  artwork and photos.

Second Hand’s classic second album Death May Be Your Santa Claus from 1971 stands as a remarkable example of progressive/psychedelic rock, rivaling the likes of Arthur Brown, Hawkwind, and Van Der Graaf Generator. This 2023 remastered edition by Prof. Stoned revitalizes the album, showcasing its diverse and challenging musical styles and ingenious studio effects. From organ-led incantations to heavenly harmonies and experimental elements, this heavy proto-prog gem offers a unique and unpredictable listening experience. The included 12-page booklet provides album and band history, along with rare photos, offering additional insight into this influential release.
