New Track: Joe Boyd – ‘Driver’

Delivering a dark fusion of rock and funk, Joe Boyd is sure to be making his way onto your playlists this year. Based in Essex, he has been stirring excitement throughout the country whilst recording his newest single ‘Driver’.

Boyd, accompanied by Matt Curd (Bass) and Cameron Morrell (Drums), has ventured into the depths of gritty rock sounds, mixing it up with remnants of funk, and featuring clear influences of Prince and Hendrix to add to the unique sound that we are already falling in love with. Not only have they featured as Q Magazine’s “Track of the Day”, the trio have starred alongside the likes of Pendulum and Mark Ronson, also managing to score themselves gigs at the London Hippodrome and The Playboy Club.

Boyd’s desire to create such an infectious tune stemmed from his fondness of driving late at night whilst listening to music; ‘Driver’ has been written to easily fit that situation. The song is destined for big things, with Boyd already having delivered a number of sold out shows.

With the single available to pre-order on iTunes, I suggest – from one music lover – to another that you instantly snap that sound up without a hint of regret. This is by far Boyd’s finest moment yet, but there’s plenty more to come for him and his hard-hitting musician friends.

‘Driver’ is set for release 28 June.
