Solange-approved singer Kelela unveils debut LP ‘Take Me Apart’

Ahead of her support slot with Solange at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl, Kelela has unveiled her debut record, Take Me Apart.

Being previewed by the jarring ‘LMK’ – which is available to listen to via Spotify below – Take Me Apart by Kelela is rapidly gaining attention from all eyes and corners of the music industry.

The LP, which will be released on October 6 via Warp features fourteen tracks.  The titles of these songs include ‘Jupiter’, ‘Truth Or Dare’, ‘Bluff’ and ‘Altadena’.

In a statement, reported via Pitchfork, Kelela herself said about her debut album: “Despite it being a personal record, the politics of my identity informs how it sounds and how I choose to articulate my vulnerability and strength,”

She continued to stress “I am a black woman, a second-generation Ethiopian-American, who grew up in the ‘burbs listening to R&B, jazz and Bjork.  All of it comes out one way or another.”

Turn your attention to Kelela, who is about to rule the airwaves in the latter half of 2017.
