‘The Good, The Bad and The Queen’ Officially Set To Release Second Record “Merrie Land”

It has been a decade but the supergroup, comprising of Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon, Tony Allen and Simon Tong, are set to release Merrie Land on 16th November, via Studio 13.

The new album cover is inspired by the horror movie, Dead of Night from 1945, and the track list comprises of 10 tracks:

  • ‘Merrie Land’
  • ‘Gun to the Head’
  • ‘Nineteen Seventeen’
  • ‘The Great Fire’
  • ‘Lady Boston’
  • ‘Drifters & Trawlers’
  • ‘The Truce of Twilight’
  • ‘Ribbons’
  • ‘The Last Man to Leave’
  • ‘The Poison Tree’

Good news for fans though, the self-titled ‘Merrie Land’, which features as the first track on the album, is now released to tease us for more! Our first peak entails of Halloween-ready themes as haunted fairground sounds cycle around the vocals, which is accompanied with a puppet figure in the official music video. Behind the puppet figure, a change landscapes pass by while it sits still, until Albarn sings “wave by”.

As the band name suggests, the songs are about the glumness of England, though mostly London, which are reflected in the landscapes in the music video, along with the creatively mundane lyrics. Co-produced by Tony Visconti, the album teaser seemingly correlates to the political turmoil which the country is currently in, providing an enjoyably haunting, yet true account of the capital. Listen to the track below.

The Good, The Bad and The Queen will do a short tour the UK following the release on the following dates.

Saturday 1st December, Blackpool North Pier

Sunday 2nd December, SWG3 Glasgow

Tuesday 4th December, EartH London

Wednesday 5th December, EartH London
