Big In 2019: Who To Watch

With 2019 already underway, it is time to make our predictions for ones to look out for this year. Take a read and be ahead of the game.

Bloxx

Alt-Rock/indie pop quartet, Bloxx, are simply infectious.  With grungy guitar hooks, catchy choruses sending waves through every audience they perform to and selling out a big London show at Borderline, Bloxx is slick, seminal and ready for the year ahead.

The band is using this momentum to go into 2019 with a bang, including a new 15 date April tour across the UK as well as being added to the Community Festival bill (alongside The Kooks and Blossoms).

This shows the band are most definitely on the rise and a big indication to catch them now before the masses swarm.

Lewis Capaldi

Since smashing onto the scene with his debut EP Bloom in late 2017, Lewis Capaldi has gone from strength to strength. The 2019 Brits Critic Choice Nominee had spent 2018 opening for Sam Smith and One Direction’s Niall Horan before embarking n his own headline tour.

The singer/songwriter seems to be moving into the mainstream media since the release of his latest EP Breach, as shown by his latest single ‘Someone You loved’ recently moving up the iTunes chart.

As Lewis moves into 2019 with big plans (involving supporting Bastille on their new tour).  These monumental steps show Lewis is clearly going to reach new dizzy heights this year.

Sports Team

The sheer swagger and bravado of Sports Team are exactly why we are hailing this band as the next big thing in indie music.

When you see Sports Team, however big the venue or however big the stage, you see the stage presence of a band that are selling out stadiums. The band exude confidence and compliment it with strong tracks like ‘Margate’ and ‘Kutcher’.

They had a very successful 2018 which included selling out Scala at a time where they had fewer followers than the venue capacity.  After the announcement of a UK tour and the promise of new music, this could be the year for Sports.

Bang Bang Romeo

2018 was a wonderful year for Bang Bang Romeo (BBR) with some massive highlights including opening the Isle of Wight Festival Main stage which is prestigious for any band!  2019 however, is going to be even bigger.

If you have yet to hear of  BBR before, the band create a powerful cocktail of blues, riffing heavy rock and gargantuan pop ballads. The indie four-piece, which is lead by frontwoman Anastasia ‘Stars’ Walker, is destined to live up to her nickname and indeed reach the stars.  Climb every mountain high.

Sam Fender

Sam’s potential as a performer has become undeniable throughout the entirety of 2018.   His future was confirmed by VEVO as having “haunting vocals and creative songwriting means he is on his way to becoming a new kind of star.”

2019 is already looking to be an amazing year for Sam.  He is releasing his debut album, has just received the 2019’s BRIT Critics Choice Award and a forthcoming tour ahead of him.  Sweet as a nut Sam, we will be seeing you in the stars.
