EP: Hannah Grace ‘Mustang’

Rating:

Infused with dirty riffs and enthralling vocals, the latest track from Hannah Grace will sweep you away. Resembling the dirtily raw guitar work and energetically haunting vocals of Deap Vally – with a pop twist – ‘Mustang’ proves that Hannah Grace is here to stay.

Opening the EP, the title track features noticeably soft piano work, soon to be contrasted with the harsh yet satisfying togetherness of the instruments and Grace’s firery voice. Carrying on this way through the entirety of the track, the catchy hook of the chorus ensures the song sounds like an anthem. Despite the catchy chorus, the quality of lyrics seen throughout the track remain. Just before you think Grace can’t prove her worth any more, the intrinsic bridge shows off the talent of the artist in her vocal capability.

‘Keep Your Love’ acts in a calmer approach in comparison to ‘Mustang’ – though don’t be fooled. Once reaching the chorus, the empowering voice and accompanying instruments energize the track just as much as the prior number. Mystique-esque track ‘Blue With You’ juxtaposes the previous tracks, with mystery filling the ambience of the evocative piano yet again. Trading the piano and electrifying instruments for an acoustic guitar and violins in ‘Hey You’, Grace showcases her talent in the rawest of forms – simply magic.

Mustang is out now via Never Fade Records.
