If your August weekends are looking a little empty, look no further than London’s Sebright Arms. The VICE venue has a whole month’s worth of entertainment lined up for you, and it all kicks off this weekend with ocean rockers The Black Tambourines. The band will be filling the venue with their surf-tastic riffs this Saturday (19th August), and it’s set to be a corker of a show, with support being provided by emerging Brighton indie-punks Gender Roles. Plus, it’s free, so you have no excuse not to attend.
The Sebright’s basement will remain full for the rest of the month, and we’re expecting it to be packed out on Sunday 27th August for their free bank holiday all-dayer. Slowcoaches will be headlining the mayhem, along with Luxury Death, Honey Joy, Wayde with more acts to be announced. The line-up provides the perfect antidote for those who are feeling a bit put out by their lack of tickets for the Reading & Leeds Festival occurring on the same weekend.
The duty of closing the month will fall to American rapper Kweku Collins, who makes his highly-anticipated return to the venue on Thursday 31st August. His style is described as “sliding between abstract poetry and melodic rap”, and Pitchfork have rated his album 8/10. He sold out his show in Camden last year, so make sure you snap up a ticket for this one fast.
