SouLost LIVE @ Underbelly 10.10.14

In their final London show of 2014, alternative rock outfit SouLost headed to Underbelly, one of Hoxton’s premier live music venues and with their latest track ‘Without Me’ quickly racking up the views on YouTube, we decided to head over and see what all the fuss was about.

The band are fronted by lead singer Ceira Mahoney and her powerful and note perfect vocals are one of the main things that ensure that SouLost stand out from the crowd. Their sound is a tried and tested formula with the likes of Texas based band Flyleaf having had major success with a similar sound, but the passion with which SouLost perform ensures they are far from a band mimicking those who have gone before them and remain very much an individual outfit.

Other than their YouTube hit, the band have a handful of other songs available online and they performed the majority of these during their set with ‘The Way I Feel’ and ‘Save Me’ getting particularly rapturous applause from the onlooking crowd. Whilst fitting in a cover of ‘Heaven Knows’ by The Pretty Reckless and a previously unheard track titled ‘What About You’, which Mahoney said was her favourite, it was their latest smash ‘Without Me’ which ensured that their relatively short set will last long in the memory.

Mahoney, who was acting as the bands spokesperson, stated that they were hugely proud of how well the track had done (at the time of writing the video is on 29,868 views) and following an impressive and commanding live performance of the track, the appreciative looks on the faces of the band told the whole story as the crowd sang along with Mahoney word for word throughout the performance.

Whilst this was their last performance in London for a while, the band still have several other UK shows to come towards the end of the year, so if you get the chance make sure you check them out. 2015 is sure to be an even bigger year for this exciting up & coming band; just remember where you heard about them first!
