LISTEN: Arcade Hearts share new single ‘Humble’

Determination and ambition simply drip off of Portsmouth’s indie-pop upstarts ARCADE HEARTS. They tour relentlessly, they record constantly and they are always writing – this band means the world to them and now they want you to feel the same way. The first gambit from the band is brand new single ‘Humble’ released on 26th July. The tune is a biting indie floor filler combining elements of indie rock with an 80’s disco beating heart to push their sound deep into ‘earworm’ territory. It’s taken from the band’s Self Titled debut EP out September 21st through Republic Of Music. To coincide with the release of the EP, Arcade Hearts have announced their largest hometown headline show to date at Portsmouth’s legendary Wedgewood Rooms on the 28th September to throw the mother of all parties to celebrate. Tickets are available HERE.

Describing the single frontman Dan Surridge-Smith said: ”Humble was written straight after Christmas, we didn’t really have a break, we gigged and rehearsed all the way through. It was written after meeting a few bad people at a few shows when we started traveling about for gigs.
I guess it’s around that time when it all started getting real for us, so we just ended up writing and experimenting with what we were capable of, and now we have ‘Humble’. It definitely means something to us as a band.”

The band are four friends from Portsmouth and its surrounding satellite towns who bonded over a love of playing live and having fun – they know the meaning and implications of hard graft and are applying this ‘no mess’ attitude to the band. Taking each town by the show and each show by the song, pushing forward with each release, a strong work ethic for these guys is inherent in everything they do. This determination and grit is what has led to them getting support from Huw Stephens, BBC Introducing and Clash Magazine, and support some of the biggest new bands including Sports Team, Orchards, Wild Front, Jerry Williams, Swimming Girls and Fickle Friends.
