ONES TO WATCH: Moonlands

Boasting a swooning atmosphere of sticky summer days, enhanced by lethargic indie-pop drawls, is the definitive sound created by a collective pairing sophistication with sheer, raw talent: the London/Brighton based Moonlands.

Driven by the supple, sugar-coated vocal of Norfolk-born frontwoman Lucy Elliott, Moonlands are distinctively different, and are commanding the waves of the underground with their recently released debut EP, Paradise Blue.

Recorded at JBJ Recording Studios, the Paradise Blue EP consists of three feel-good tracks whipping up a stimulating storm. With the outfit enjoying the sounds of: Anna Calavi, Arcade Fire and Bombay Bicycle Club, a crystal-clear nod to these artists can be heard on title-track ‘Paradise Blue’ as well as the EP’s opener, ‘Years’.

Moonlands – Lucy Elliott, Joel Frosh, Joel Brooks and Josh Fry – have set their hearts on festival season and are hoping to see their name up in lights at some point this summer. Luckily though, this band with their glorious catalogue of songs have already secured an exclusive live session at BBC Introducing Norfolk, which is thought to air later this year.

Moonlands are a band that can only rise through the ranks and continue to mature their sound as they prepare for world domination. You heard it here first: keep a firm grip on this lot.
