Premiere: Earl Butler shares new single ‘Raised By Wolves’

Taken from his debut EP, Earl Butler is sharing his new single ‘Raised By Wolves.’

With musical heroes spanning from Kate Bush to Kanye West, Earl is influenced by going boldly against the grain, and ‘Raised By Wolves’ is no exception. Speaking of the track, Earl said:

“I never set out to write a song with a message, but ‘Raised By Wolves’ feels like it has a pretty strong one. I feel like the metaphor in the lyrics explains it way better than I ever could. But I guess primarily it’s about defiance, reaching breaking point and saying that I’m not going to go down without a fight.

It’s also about acceptance of yourself. It always reminds me of one of my friends I worked with at a bar; if someone ever called him a prick, he’d turn around to them and say “That’s Mr. Prick to you”. It’s a stupid example but it is that kind of refusal to be crippled by someone’s perception of you and reclaiming your flaws for your own empowerment. I’m going to use the thing you hate most about me to beat you. I love the idea of the Wolves being your demons, the harsh realities and experiences that inform your personality knock you into shape and ultimately prepare you for adult life”.

With gorgeous vocals, a healthy dose of synths and bags of self-assurance, this is a solid lead single for what’s set to be a very exciting EP.

Earl’s single launch takes place at Heartbreakers, Southampton, on 3 June.
