This Feeling NBHD Festival Ones To Watch – Corella

Manchester indie-rockers Corella released one of the best debut albums of the year dropping ‘Once Upon A Weekend‘ in May. We caught up with the lads ahead of their sure to be absolute scenes NBHD Festival slot next week…

Have you got any pre or post show rituals?

We don’t have anything specific that needs to happen before every show, but that being said you’ll usually find some energetic tunes blasting, Jack brushing his teeth, a solid handshake with each other after a short huddle to get us hyped up to go on stage. We also have a 3 beer max rule, as this seems to be line before bad things happen on stage, although, this was definitely broken over festival season.

Have you got any hidden talents?

Jack is able to fart any song with his hands. He’d probably be on Britain’s Got Talent doing this if it wasn’t for the band. Ben can also swallow an entire hotdog whole, though not sure if this is a talent or just weird.

Favourite lyric of yours and why?

‘And when I need a friend I can count on you easy,

Cos I’m a puzzle short of a couple of pieces’

This is from our song Hometown on the album, which describes the place you grow up as the missing piece that you sometimes need when you feel down.

What can we expect from your NBHD set?

We’re really looking forward to our NBHD set, playing to a Manchester crowd is always our favorite thing to do so you can expect us to be firing on all cylinders. We’ll be playing a mix of fan favorites from the album and some of our previous releases too!

If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

At the moment it would probably be Olivia Dean, she’s got a wicked voice and we’re all big fans!

What is your favourite song of yours – and why?

Lady Messiah, it’s a little different to most of the stuff we’ve written but always goes down really well live. It’s got a real positive message too which seems to resonate with people when they listen.
