Vida set to release long awaited Steve Cradock produced single in conjunction with This Feeling ‘Hot Scots’ tour

On May 1st, Alloa 5 piece Vida finally deliver their hotly anticipated single, ‘Where We Came From’. Back in January the band made themselves comfy at the other end of the country far from their Clackmannanshire residence, in the South West of England, within the comforts of Birmingham born legend, Steve Cradock’s home. Having found himself on many great records, including those with Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller, as well as his one off outings alongside Liam and Noel Gallagher, and Beatles Icon, Paul McCartney, it was a very easy decision to hand the charge of their imminent single to Cradock.

It is not a kept secret that the outfit hold a heavy influence swayed towards the guitar bands that held the torch in the 90’s. Just a few years back, bands heading down that path, were very much imitational and lacked that original, genuine approach. But with it being nearly a quarter of a century since the release of records such as Definitely Maybe, it is fair to say that these new young guns, who weren’t even at the stage of nappies, are now very much inspired and driven by that whole era, and in the case of Vida, borrow the very best bits, and mould it into their own sound.

Already on live outings, by the second chorus, the crowds have been in full voice when it comes to the time in the set where front man Jamie Pollock takes up the acoustic for ‘Where We Came From’. They have seen last year’s ‘Fade Away’ become a firm favourite among their growing young indie following, but this record is about to take that crown and push the band towards the elite of the scene. Cradock’s approach was very direct in the production, raw and old school, swerving as many modern approaches used today in making a record, instead, getting the band to work like a well oiled machine, with a heavy reliance put on the feel in each specific take, and his influence definitely reveals itself, in among all the sonic wobbles and waves within foot stomping B side, What’s Going Around.

May sees the outfit hit the road as headline for This Feeling, for their ‘Hot Scots’ tour, with main support coming from fellow Loaded brothers, Shambolics.
