‘StyleWithSound’ – Georgi Chase looks at Pretty Green AW13 and more

PRETTY GREEN AW13

Being a dedicated fan of Pretty Green since its launch in 2009, I have seen the brand grow into what can only be described as a phenomenon and I can only see it becoming one of the all time greatest British clothing brands for years to come. What makes Pretty Green so appealing to me, everything I like to wear is under the one roof and those particular pieces aren’t so easy to buy from other brands or the quality isn’t always as good as PG, so it’s a win, win situation in my opinion.

Pretty Green is like no other brand, it has an incredible cult following and has turned many men into a fashionista!!

THE VINYL REVOLUTION

With innovation there must be substance and impact and Pretty Greens Autumn/Winter13 collection delivers this on all fronts, it captivates an ever changing trend and I’m personally thrilled about what has been released so far this season. Great music and fine clothes are a marriage made in heaven so ‘The Vinyl Revolution’ theme for AW13 is a perfect concept, I’m  a huge fan of vinyl records, there’s just somthing authentic about the sound. I have a reasonably large collection all be it mainly Oasis, Lennon etc. I can’t pass a secondhand record store without going in, you never know what gems you mind find.

This season sees a reamurgance from Pretty Green, after what many not all fans and critics described the SS13 collection as a low point for the brand but when you raise the bar so high to begin with, there will always be a come down period, but I saw this as a transitional time for Pretty Green to become a brand with intent to capture a larger demographic. From a personal point of view, what they are doing this season is pushing the boundaries, taking it to a whole new level, being original isn’t what Pretty Green are known for but reinvention is!!

The AW13 Green Label Outerwear has already been a huge success in just a few weeks, I personally know of at least 10 people that have bought the Nylon iridescent jacket, it was always going to prove popular after Liam Gallagher was pictured wearing one at the NME awards earlier this year and for £95, its worth every penny. The quilted Kagoules and classic Harrington jackets have also been popular too. As you would expect, there are some new styles but the Pique polo shirts and trademark Logo tees are back with minor detail changes, along with a new range of shirts and knitwear. The standout piece that will be colossal with the fans is the New Green Label Biker Leather, I tried it on myself earlier in the year and it’s just a sensational jacket, really high quality material as you would expect from a Pretty Green Leather Jacket, the Fur Hooded Parka also makes a return which is great for the cold winer months.

The Black Label has only 8 pieces at the moment but those pieces are nothing short of pure excellence, so far the Stone Cord Upshea Jacket is the only Outerwear but has been selling well, once again Pretty Green have recreated a classic piece, the idea taken from the iconic jackets The Beatles wore at the Shea Stadium gig in 1966, Nehru collar, military style jacket, very popular with both Liam and the fans. We also have an Iconic luxurious Union Jack Scarf, which is a perfect accompaniment for the winter months.

The fans can also expect to see a beautiful Black Label Leather Jacket as worn by Jesse Wood and for me that’s the piece I’m looking forward to buying. The Classic Velvet Peacoat makes a return too and that will retail at £350.
