NEW ARTIST: Hannah V

Born in Berlin to South Indian parents and raised in London, Hannah V is a classically trained musician with a healthy musical CV. A love for Jazz music led her to study at London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Music where she learnt basic music production skills. Once her time at the Academy came to an end, Hannah began playing the piano in a number of hotels and bars before being asked to play keys in various recording sessions – her first being for neo-soul duo and ‘Crazy’ creators, Gnarls Barkley and more recently for Jessie J and Rihanna.

Working with an extensive range of producers has widened her musical spectrum greatly; having been brought up on the likes of musical masters such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye. But it is these essences of classic R&B and Soul music that she’s trying to bring into her own music. “I want that depth in my own music – that classic feel coupled with modern production techniques, dance floor elements, knocking drums, screeching synths and gritty bottom end.”

More recently, Hannah V’s influences have come in the shape of Kanye West, Timbaland, Diplo and Dr. Dre and her eclectic musical talents have earned attention from international superstars such as Jason Derulo and Taio Cruz. With an EP due out later this year, we can officially share the first track from the project, ‘Version 2.0’. Premiered by MistaJam, ‘Version 2.0’ is a bass-heavy, finger snapping, dance floor-ready banger which features the vocal talents of London based singer Ama Schreyer.

The infectious beat is is reminiscent of recent Major Lazer material and that is definitely not a bad thing! With the no nonsense hook of “They don’t wanna get to know me, they just wanna version 2.0 me, til I look in the mirror, don’t see the old me”, Hannah lets us know what she is all about straight away and informs us that she will definitely not be changed!

If you like what you hear, make sure you check out Hannah V on Twitter and Facebook and watch out for brand new music which is set to drop shortly from this talented producer.
