Suspects share new single ‘Wasted Precious Time’

Four minutes of unfiltered, cathartic despondency, Essex-based punks Suspects have shared their latest single ‘Wasted Precious Time’. Released via Southend-based independent label Cool Thing Records, the track is a self-explanatory anthem acknowledging the frustrations that come with a dispiriting lack of control over the way we are forced to spend our time, epitomised in the opening lyric “We’ve compromised our precious lives / We’ve sacrificed the earth for lies.”

Formed of guitarist & vocalist Thomas Prescott, drummer James May and bassist Joey Halamandres, Suspects have worked with producer Thomas Mitchener (Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Gallows, The Futureheads, Asylums) again to create their heavy new offering. Following on from their 2021 release ‘The Mental Health Act‘ – a psychological purge designed to smash through the FOMO that comes with scrolling through other people’s life highlights on your social media feeds – on ‘Wasted Precious Time’ the band continue to unleash their restless thoughts in order to make sense of a world that feels like it’s constantly imploding around us.

“‘Wasted Precious Time’ is a song about the helplessness of our existence and the downfall of humanity,” the band explain. Fueled by abrasive riffs, powerhouse percussion and Prescott’s raw, direct vocals, ‘Wasted Precious Time’ is a nosedive into uncertainty, offering listeners a brief moment of respite before they return to the inevitable grind of everyday existence.

Suspects will be playing their first headline show in three years at St Mark’s in Southend to celebrate the release of their new single on 12th November. Support comes from ADCX, Teleforme and Brompton Walk DJs. Grab a ticket here.
