WATCH: Neon Waltz share video for new single ‘The Stranger Things’

Neon Waltz celebrate the announcement of their biggest ever UK headline tour in March 2019 with a brand new single ‘The Stranger Things’ available now. The burst of activity precedes support dates with the DMA’S on their sold out tour this month.

The newly announced dates take them on a 1,200 mile round trip, from Aberdeen (14th March) to Brighton (19th March) and back to Scotland, via Manchester (24th March), London (22nd March) and 10 other UK cities and towns. Tickets are available now

Recently recorded in Eastbourne, the track is typical of the band’s unique melancholic soaring and poetic songwriting, and demonstrates their authentic and inimitable charm.

Darren says of the track, “In between our live dates in the summer we began serious work on new music.  We’re still doing that and we could wait until the time is perfect with a record in hand or we could start letting it go sooner.  ‘The Stranger Things’ is about making sure your priorities are inline.  Or maybe even just about realising those priorities.  It’s less frills.  More balls.  Not enough spring reverb.  And too much heart.”

The track is accompanied by a brilliantly rock band-mocking video – available to view below– which is directed by frontman Jordan Shearer, while simultaneously stripping the singer to the waist, dousing him in baby oil and freeing him to release his inner rock god. Spandex-clad, mullet-haired band mates join in, creating one of 2018’s funniest promo videos at the last gasp.

“We basically just wanted to have a bit of fun with one of our videos for the first time,” says Shearer. “We can be terribly cynical when judging other people’s music, so I liked the idea of us slating our own band without realising it’s actually us. After I had the idea we took one day to film it and the editing took one night and one morning. I thought oiling up and prancing around like a tit would be hard, but it felt very natural, funnily enough.”
