After picking up the guitar five years ago and teaching himself to play by watching BB King videos on YouTube, hugely talented 20-year-old singer-songwriter Kelvin Jones fell in love with the simplicity of being able to connect with someone through melody and emotion.
Having posted his track ‘Call You Home’ on YouTube last year, it found its way on to Reddit and was subsequently discovered by researchers on Good Morning America. This huge exposure meant the track was viewed over one million times in the space of 24 hours and gained him a substantial fan base around the world.
Having now signed to Sony, Kelvin has shared his official debut single ‘Closer’ – a melodic, acoustic-led track that showcases exactly what Kelvin is about from off. His music has been compared with the likes of George Ezra but Kelvin’s vocals are what got him recognised in the first place and on ‘Closer’ it’s easy to see why. With his debut album set to be released later this year, he’s got a huge year ahead of him and we’re excited to hear more from him.
Make sure you follow Kelvin on Twitter and Facebook and if you’re heading down there, you can catch Kelvin down at Brighton’s The Great Escape Festival today at 9pm at the Unitarian Church. If you do, remember to let him know where you saw him first!
